Construction

ACSR is a concentrically stranded conductor composed of one or morelayers of hard-drawn 1350H19 aluminum wire stranded with a high?strengthcoated steel core. The core maybe single wire or stranded depending on thesize.

The proportions of aluminum andsteel can be varied to obtain the relation between current-carrying capacityand mechanical strength best suited to each application.

Core wire for ACSR is availablewith Class A, B or C galvanizing; "aluminized" aluminum coated(AZ); or aluminum clad (AW).

Additional corrosion protectionis available through the application of grease to the core or infusion of thecomplete cable with grease.
